Dessert Bowl in Alexandrite
Wheelthrown porcelain dessert bowl in color-changing Alexandrite glaze with hand-painted underglaze lines.
The geometric pattern is created with a tape resist technique which leaves a very tactile unglazed pattern on the surface.
This glaze is dichroic, which means it changes color depending on the type of light that hits it. It is purple in daylight and LED light, and gray or blue in different fluorescent lighting, and pinkish purple in incandescent light. You can see an example of this glaze in different lighting in the last photo (which is of a bowl similar to these, but smaller).
